Optimum Distal Locking Configuration of Volar Locking Plates
The cyclic, ramp, and pull-out testing of Volar locking plates for distal radial fractures was investigated. The aim of this project was to determine whether there was a difference in mechanical performance between parallel, convergent, or divergent screw configurations in the distal part of the locking plate.

Cyclic and ramp testing was completed using an axial load through a universal joint. plates were fixed to Sawbones radii with an internal foam density comparable to osteoporotic bone. Pull-out testing was completed using Sawbones bone substitute material, with a density comparable to osteoporotic bone.
